Kinfra Defence Industries Park work to begin on February 23
KOCHI: The work on setting up the Rs 231.35 crore Kinfra Defence Industries Park at Ottappalam in Palakkad district will commence on February 23 with the state industries minister PK Kunahlikutty laying the foundation stone for the project.
The project, coming up in 60 acres, will be operational one year after the commencement of the work and fully functional in two years, according to Kinfra managing director G.C. Gopala Pallai.
The park, the first of its kind, will have common infrastructure facilities such as tool room, pollution testing facility, training facility, warehouse, R&D centre, incubation centre and quality certification centre.
The project is expected to receive financial assistance of '50 crore from the Central government, Dr Pillai said. The industries minister will also inaugurate the Kinfra Industrial Park at Ottappalam on February 23.
The Ottappalam Park will come up on 83 acres adjacent to the Palakkad-Ponnani state highway and will have road, rail and air connectivity. The Coimbatore and Kozhikode airports are 85 km from from the park while the Cochin airport is 100 km away.
The Kochi port is 130 km from the park and the Tuticorin port 420 km, he said.
The park will have common security services, streetlight, rainwater harvesting with potable water supply system, dedicated power supply system, and a green belt.
The government has provided exemption from stamp duty and registration fee for documentation inside the park. There will be a single window clearance system at the park. All permits and licences required from various government agencies and departments are arranged through the park, Dr Pillai said.
