Banner torn,Telugu Desam men block road

The cops said that action would be taken against the guilty after examining the CCTV footage.

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam activists on Saturday blocked the Addanki-Narketpalli highway for about two hours, alleging that a TD banner was torn by YSR Congress supporters.

The protesters burnt tyres on the road and demanded arrest of those guilty.

However, YSRC activists, led by Piduguralla constituency in-charge Kasu Mahesh Reddy rejected the allegations and lodged a complaint with the police alleging implication of the party cadre in the case.

The TD leaders said that they erected banners in Veerapuram village of Piduguralla mandal on the occasion of NTR’s death anniversary on Friday but YSRC supporters tore one of the banners.

They alleged that this was done to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the village. Piduguralla and Dachepalli police rushed to the spot and pacified the TD protesters.

The cops said that action would be taken against the guilty after examining the CCTV footage.

Following this, the TD activists called off their protest.
