Telangana: Marks for power staff under focus

The judge found that the two benches of the court had given different orders with regard to the weightage marks.

Hyderabad: The dispute with regard to awarding weightage marks to contract employees of Telangana state Transco took a turn on Friday at Hyderabad High Court.

Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao while dealing with a petition by Mr M. Raghu Mohan and others challenging the decision of TS Transco in giving 20 marks as weightage to contract employees for the post of sub-engineers referred the matter to the Chief Justice.

The judge found that the two benches of the court had given different orders with regard to the weightage marks. While one bench justified it, the other said weightage could be considered only when two candidates, including the contact employee, secured the same marks.

Counsel for petitioners Sarasani Satyam Reddy submitted that Transco had issued the notification on December 28, 2017, to recruit 174 sub engineers/electrical engineers in which it was decided to provide 20 marks to contract employees each.

He said the decision would hamper the chances of direct candidates. Transco counsel G. Vidya Sagar said weightage marks were being given on the basis of the High Court order.

The judge felt that in view of different opinions, it would be proper to refer the matter to the Chief Justice.
