MK Stalin calling Modi sadist shows his immaturity: H Raja

The DMK could have used the money spent on Karunanidhi's statue to help the Gaja victims, Raja said.

Coimbatore: BJP national secretary H. Raja on Tuesday slammed DMK chief M K Stalin as being 'immature' in calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a 'sadist' for not visiting Tamil Nadu after cyclone Gaja. The DMK could have used the money spent on Karunanidhi's statue to help the Gaja victims, Raja said.

Stalin, while speaking at a rally followed by unveiling of a bronze statue of DMK patriarch and his father late M Karunanidhi at the party headquarters in Chennai on Sunday, had called Modi a "sadist", saying the Prime Minister had not bothered to visit the Gaja-hit areas in Tamil Nadu. The PM would have rushed to other states like Maharashtra or Gujarat if they were hit by a natural disaster, Stalin had said.

The statue event had brought together key opposition parties-Congress, DMK, TDP and CPI (M), to reaffirm their resolve to defeat the BJP and Modi in the Parliament polls in 2019.

Responding to Stalin's outburst against PM Modi, H Raja said welcoming guests at the function was another matter, but calling Modi sadist was not acceptable and had not gone well with the public. "For the last two years, Stalin has been speaking unrelated things in an immature manner", Raja said, adding that the money spent on the statue could have been donated to the Gaja victims.

Raja said it was a mistake to have invited Sonia Gandhi for the statue function as it was under the UPA dispensation that the killings of Tamils took place in Sri Lanka.

He said there was reported movement of Naxals in the Western Ghats and the state government should take immediate action in the matter, seeking Central help if need be.
