Hyderabad registers 9°C drop in maximum temperature

Hyderabad: The city witnessed extremely cold weather as there was a 9°C drop in the maximum temperature on Monday. The overcast sky with slight rainfall in parts of the state was due to the northerly winds on Tuesday. The winds were blowing with such intensity that the flag at Hussainsagar was brought down.

People were wrapped in woolens and preferred to stay indoors. Hyderabad recorded the maximum temperature of 19.8°C, which is this season’s lowest. Night time temperatures recorded in the city was around 15.8°C. The night temperature is further expected to fall to 14°C while there will be an increase in day temperatures over the week.

The sky across the city remained cloudy through the day with no sign of sunlight. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), areas like Medak in Telangana witnessed the lowest temperature in the state, at 13 degrees Celsius. Heavy rain occurred at isolated places in the districts of Badradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad and Bhupalpally of Telangana.

According to the IMD, the state would witness light thundershowers at isolated places for the next couple of days followed by dry weather which is likely to prevail over Telangana. Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Khammam, Badradri Kothagudem, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Nalgonda and Suryapet of Telangana.
