Roadworks to be done in 11 months: P Narayana

He visited the bridge works at Palavagu at Krishnayapalem, Kondaveetivagu at Navaleru and also Palavagu at Abbarajupalem.

Vijayawada: Over 34 major roads stretching in 1,634 km, in an area of 217 sq km of Amaravati, will be completed in the next 11 months, as per the master plan received from Singapore, said minister for municipal an urban development P. Narayana. He inspected the road works in Amaravati, during his whirlwind tour to the region on Monday. He visited NH-4, NH-14 roads and Seed Axis roads. He visited the bridge works at Palavagu at Krishnayapalem, Kondaveetivagu at Navaleru and also Palavagu at Abbarajupalem. He enquired the engineers about the dimensions of the brides as well as the roads. He pulled up chief engineer Moses Kumar for the slow pace of works and for not inspecting the works regularly.

Later, speaking to the mediapersons, the minister said works of 34 major roads, including 16 from east to west and 18 from north to south, have begun. “The tender process has completed and works have begun. 27 villagers have given their lands for the capital of the total 29. The remaining two have been requested to give their lands through land pooling. Notice has been issued for acquisition of 1,000 acres,” the minister said.

He said that drinking water pipelines, power for street lights, storm water and underground drainage will also be there under the roads in the Capital. The works of bridges on Kondaveetivagu are being constructed as per the plans given by Netherland. Three reservoirs of 0.8 cusecs capacity will be constructed in alignment to the streams, he said. The 3,850 quarters for officers, MLAs, IAS officers, will be complete in the next 15 months, he said and added that he would inspect the road and building works in Amaravati every week. CRDA and ADC officers, engineers accompanied the minister.
