PM Modi to visit Cyclone Ockhi-hit families today

The PM will arrive in Mangalore at 12:15 am on Tuesday and by 7:30 am, he will leave for Agatti island in Lakshadweep.

Thiruvananthapuram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Poonthura on Tuesday afternoon and meet Cyclone Ockhi-hit families as per the request of BJP leadership in the state. The PMO has confirmed that he would spend about 10 minutes with them at St. Thomas School. BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan visited Poonthura on Monday evening and evaluated preparations for the visit. The PM will arrive in Mangalore at 12:15 am on Tuesday and by 7:30 am, he will leave for Agatti island in Lakshadweep.

He would reach Kavaratti by helicopter where he will hold talks with the local leaders and meet the cyclone-affected families. He will arrive at the technical area of the Thiruvananthapuram Air Force base here at 1:30 pm. He will take a helicopter to Kanyakumari from there. He will return by 4:30 pm and by road leave for Poonthura. The BJP said he would hold talks with chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, cabinet ministers and representatives of fishermen community at Thycaud Government Guest House. Mr Modi is expected to return to New Delhi after 6 pm.
