Ms Sharada said there are several other problems in the division which the officials have neglected.

Warangal: A ruling party corporator, Sharada Joshi, of 15th division of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) sat on a protest demanding the authorities to address drinking water issues in the colonies. She along with the colony residents sat in front of the GWMC office on Monday and raised slogans against the negligent officials.

Corporator Sharada blamed executive engineer Vidyasagar for the negligence of works and demanded his suspension. "Many colonies in my division are facing acute shortage of water over the past 10 years. The residents of SC colony, Najaratpur, Srinivas Colony, LB Nagar, Desaipet are struggling to get drinking water. A pipeline from Prataparudra filter to the 80 feet road was sanctioned at a cost of Rs 50 lakh but one year back but the works have not begun yet. I met the mayor and brought the issue to his notice. He asked EE Vidyasagar to finish the works soon but in vain," she said.

Ms Sharada said there are several other problems in the division which the officials have neglected. She said the commissioner Sruthi Ojha has recently visited the division and asked for the estimates for gravelling the road to towards M H Nagar but so far there is no progress.

"Even after my personal request to the EE to address the issues, he has not responded. He even stopped accepting my calls. When I called to tell him that the people are not receiving water for the past three days, he spoke irresponsibly and said he is not in charge. The official must be transferred from our area," she demanded. The corporator and the colony resident met the Commissioner Sruthi Ojha and submitted a list of complaints against the EE and asked her to take necessary action against him.
