Bail to Ravi Belagere: Order reserved for Thursday
BENGALURU: The court has extended the interim bail of ‘Hai Bangalore’ editor Ravi Belagere for three more days and has reserved the order to December 21.
After hearing the arguments on the bail petition of the arrested journalist on Monday, the 65th Sessions Court adjourned the hearing till Thursday, extending the interim bail.
Objecting to granting of bail to the accused, the advocate representing journalist Sunil Heggaravalli, against whom Belagere had allegedly given supari, argued that the accused had no major health problems but was trying to get regular bail on health grounds and that he should not be granted bail.
Defense lawyer Diwakar told the court that his client was suffering from heart-related problems and doctors treating him have recommended treatment for a few more days. He argued that the weapons and bullets seized from Belagere’s house had a licence. “Police have no evidence against my client. They have arrested him based on the statement of another accused, Shashidhar Mundewadi.”
However, Mr Heggaravalli’s lawyer said that Belagere had links with anti-social elements and had planned the murder with them.
