The state government would take every step to protect rights and instill confidence by providing adequate security: Siddaramaiah.

Bengaluru: Clearly setting his eyes on the 2018 Assembly polls, Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah on Sunday announced that the state government will constitute a cabinet sub-committee to assess areas that need to be improved to uplift the socio-economic status of minorities.

Apart from this, the state government is also contemplating bringing an Equal Opportunities Act to improve conditions of minorities, Mr Siddaramaiah added while speaking after inaugurating Minority Rights Day here.

He asserted that the state government would take every step to protect rights and instill confidence by providing adequate security. “It is the government’s job to instill confidence among minorities, aren’t we doing it?,” he asked the audience in his inimitable style. “I know, we have never deserted you (Minorities) neither have you deserted us (Congress),” he said evoking a positive response.

Continuing his speech, Mr Siddaramaiah said, “Equality can only be achieved if everyone in society gets an equal opportunity. Hence, Congress party is committed to work to improve conditions of minorities, Dalits and other oppressed classes, he said.
