4 pals die as SUV crashes, falls off Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad

The SUV they were travelling in went out of control at a steep curve on the ORR.

Hyderabad: Four youngsters who were returning home, after an outing on the outskirts of the city, were killed in a ghastly accident on the Outer Ring Road near Dongala Maisamma temple in Thumkunta on Sunday evening.

The SUV they were travelling in went out of control at a steep curve on the ORR, hit a median and overturned multiple times before falling off the ORR. The victims were identified as Vignesh Singh, 22, Rahul, 21, Aurobinder Singh, 25, and Mario, 20, all residents of Marredpally in Secunderabad.

Four of their friends who were in another vehicle ahead, did not even know of the incident. The eight friends from Secunderabad were returning from an outing when the second vehicle (AP 29AW 0939) driven by Vignesh went out of control on a curve, hit the median, was flung into the air and after turning turtle several times came down crashing in the bushes off the ORR.

Four dead in ORR mishap
The mishap occurred when their SUV went out of control on a steep curve, hit a median and overturned several times and went off the road.

The victims are Vignesh Singh 22, Rahul, 21, Aurobinder Singh, 25 and Mario, 20, all residents of Marredpally. Four other youths who were accompanying them in another vehicle went away without knowing about the incident.

Passersby who saw the vehicle getting flung into the air rushed to the spot to help the passengers, but all the four had died on the spot. Locals said the youths were heavily drunk and the vehicle was travelling close to 140 kmph.

“The vehicle could have been travelling at a speed of more than 100 kmph. It was flung in the air and overturned multiple times before crashing down 100 meters away from the spot,” ACP A. Srinivasa Rao said.

Records say the vehicle is registered in the name of Gandour India Food Processing and has two fines pending. Police said they are also checking if the driver was drunk.
