PMK seeks action against illegal brick kilns in Kovai

COIMBATORE: The PMK’s state youth wing deputy secretary, Ashok Srinithi in a petition submitted at the district collectrate on Monday demanded that action be taken against concerned officials who are responsible for granting illegal permission for the operation of brick kilns in and around Coimbatore.

According to the petition, the functional of the brick kilns and illegal sand mining which is rampant in Thadagam, Somayampalayam, Nanjundapuram, Veerapandipudur and Pannimadai causes harm to the environment and is a threat to the elephants. “Photographs recorded by Google Earth in 2010 and 2019 of the stated areas are proof damage caused by the illegal sand mining and brick kilns.” the petition said.

 

Meanwhile, the Madampatti Youth Group submitted a petition at the district collectorate demanding action against a liquor selling outlet. “Tasmac shop no.2227, located behind the Agricultural Cooperative Bank is functioning in Madhampati Panchayat under the Thondamuthur union operates beyond business hours as fixed by the government for the last decade.” the petition stated.
