Congress committee meets leaders, promises justice

Efforts of the Congress panel seems to have not gone off well, as some of the leaders did not respond positively.

Hyderabad: The Congress panel meant to pacify disgruntled leaders has met about 60 of them. These leaders are in different categories — the rebels, those who are unhappy and leaders who are planning to quit the party.

The committee comprises Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayansamy, Karnataka minister and troubleshooter D.K. Shivakumar and Yanam minister Malladi Krishna Rao. TPCC treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy coordinated with the unhappy leaders.

Congress leaders who failed to get tickets like Mr P. Karthik Reddy, Ms Palvai Sravanti, Mr Ramachandra Reddy, Mr Nandikanti Sridhar and Mr Jangaiah Yadav met the panel.

The committee requested them to support the Congress and promised to do justice after the government is formed. The meetings will continue on Monday.

The effort seems to have not gone off well, as some of the leaders did not respond positively.

Mr Jangaiah Yadav, who did not get the ticket from Medchal, said, “I asked the committee why tickets were not given to our community. Why were MP candidates given the tickets? The tickets were given as per the directions of Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.”

He said he would file his nomination papers on Monday. “I asked them to provide an appointment to meet Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi,” he said.

Mr Karthik Reddy said, “The Rajendranagar and Ibrahimpatnam seats were given to the TD knowing that it will be defeated. We don’t understand the need to sacrifice the seats to them. I will meet with my followers and will decide on the future.”
