PoS machines installed at 42 petrol pumps in Telangana
Hyderabad: Petroleum dealers have set up 116 point-of-sale (PoS) machines across the state, of which 42 are in the city.
According to instructions by oil corporations, petroleum dealers with SBI’s PoS machines should have launched the cash-back process from Friday morning but due to a communication gap, very few complied. By afternoon, about 70 per cent of the machines began functioning.
Petroleum corporations are approaching other banks to offer a similar service with their PoS machines at petrol outlets. As per the request made by the oil corporations, the SBI is providing Rs 5 commission on each transaction towards cash-back to customers for up to Rs 2,000. Oil corporations have asked for the remuneration towards utilisation of manpower.
So far, Hindustan Petroleum has established 42 PoS units followed by IOC (49) and BPCL (25) in the state.
A spokesperson from HPCL said a few more dealers with SBI PoS machines would begin the process gradually. “Oil companies are approaching other banks on the same matter. If they agree, all petrol bunks in the state will launch the services,” he said.
Petroleum dealers are withdrawing Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh based on the requirement by providing cheques to SBI for running the PoS cash-back points. “So far, we have not received any circular on the cap on withdrawals under the scheme,” Mr Naik said.
The process for establishing cash withdrawal centres through PoS at traders and hospitals in Hyderabad is yet to be finalised.
Hyderabad collector Rahul Bojja said that the GHMC was dealing with the POS cash-back centres. “They are identifying recognised traders,” he said.
GHMC sources said that so far the civic body has not launched the process and that it would be finalised by Saturday.
