SA Bobde to be Chief Justice of india

Justice Bobde happens to be the senior most judge after Gogoi and according to the seniority, he would be the Chief Justice.

New Delhi: Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has recommended to the Centre to appoint Justice S. A. Bobde as next Chief Justice after he demits office on November 17.

Justice Bobde happens to be the senior most judge after Gogoi and according to the seniority, he would be the Chief Justice.

He will assume the office of the CJI on November 18.

As a Chief Justice, Justice Bobde will have a tenure of little over one year and five months as he would be retiring on April 23, 2021.

Justice Bobde is heading the bench that is hearing the BCCI matter and is also likely to preside over the bench dealing with the Assam NRC issue.

He had presided over the bench that junked a PIL seeking fresh probe into the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.

Born on April 24, 1956 at Nagpur, Justice Bobde is the son of Arvind Bobde.
