‘NSS stand will destroy state’s secular fabric’
THIRUVANANTHAPRAM: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Friday said the NSS campaign invoking caste will weaken the secular fabric of the state.
The CPM leader said that NSS general secretary Sukumaran Nair was acting like UDF convenor. The NSS stand will only enthuse a section of a section of NSS members who are affiliated to the Congress. The appeal will have no impact on the larger sections of community who will be voting in a secular way.
Sukumaran Nair is trying to become the saviour of UDF. Majority of the members of the community are against his stand, the CPM leader said.
CPM state secretariat member Elamaram Kareem said the bargaining of the community organisations will not work in the state. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala ask-ed who benefitted from NSS right distance stand in Chengannur bypoll? Now they are saying the grapes are sour. Mohankumar rejected the CPM charge that he was invoking caste to seek votes.
