Mullapally Ramachandran asks KT Jaleel to apologise

Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran and Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala have again targeted Higher Education Minister K.T. Jaleel for casting aspersions on Mr Chennithala’s son who had cleared the civil services examinations in 2017. Mr Mullappally demanded an apology from Mr Jaleel for the character assassination of the Opposition Leader and said, “the minister is even questioning the credibility of UPSC, one of the the most respected organisations in the country.”

They were addressing the reporters during their by-election campaign in Konni on Friday. Mr Mullapally demanded a judicial probe into the role of the minister in the illegal awarding of marks in the MG University. He should be kept out of the cabinet during the probe, he said.

He justified the NSS support to the believers on the Sabarimala issue and said it had made its stand clear at the time of the Chengannoor election also.
Referring to the statement made by CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan that the BJP activists can also vote on the CPM symbol, he said that was proof for the vote trade between the two parties. “My revelation of the BJP-CPM vote deal was based on evidence,” he said.

Mr Chennithala said that Mr Jaleel might be worried about his son getting the 210th rank in the civil service examination. “Jaleel said that I was in Delhi at the time of my son’s interview. Will another person go for my son’s interview or should I send somebody else’s father for it?” he asked.
