Kodela Sivaramakrishna showroom in Guntur pays Rs 1.41 crore penalty

This showroom was the one where officials had found furniture of the state legislative assembly being illegally used.

VIJAYAWADA: A motorbike showroom belonging to Kodela Sivaramakrishna, son of late Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, former AP assembly speaker, at Guntur paid Rs 1crore as penalty to the transport department on Friday for selling bikes in violation of norms. Further, the department collected from the same showroom Rs 41 lakh as life tax and temporary registration fee of bikes sold without payment of these taxes.

The transport department raided Gowtham Automotives at Guntur during August this year and found that the owner Sivaramakrishna had sold 576 bikes without paying life tax, registration fee or temporary registration. This showroom was the one where officials had found furniture of the state legislative assembly being illegally used. Transport department deputy commissioner E. Meera Prasad said fine was imposed on Gowtham Automotives for violation of norms.
