Tweet to KT Rama Rao brings streetlights
The colony's streets were in darkness after 52 streetlights were damaged by the recent rain.
Hyderabad: Messages on Twitter to minister K.T. Rama Rao led to SS Colony, Sainikpuri, getting LED streetlights on Diwali eve.
The colony’s streets were in darkness after 52 streetlights were damaged by the recent rain. This coupled with faulty drainage and water stagnation led to people not daring to venture out at night.
“There was knee deep water with no electricity. We were afraid as snakes and insects were floating in the water,” said colony resident Priya Iyengar.
She posted a series of tweets regarding the residents’ problems to Mr Rao.
“In three days the engineering wing fixed LED lights,” said a resident.
