The Sun is finally shining on us, say kids, parents at Mudfort huts
Hyderabad: The Diwali of 2017 will be remembered for years to come by the students living in the Ambedkar huts. Until now, these students and their parents have been troubled by having to spend their nights in darkness. The children would have to complete their studies and homework either before sunset, early in the morning before rushing to school, or by candlelight.
Hyderabad-based Premier Solar Systems has changed that through their generous donation of solar-powered street lights and study lamps.
B. Naveen, a student of Class 6, said that he would return from school at around 4 pm and have hardly any time to eat and complete his homework before sunset. “Studying in the night used to be a problem; the solar study lamp will be convenient,” he says.
B. Devender, a student of Class 4, said he and his sisters, students of classes 7 and 10, would have to sit together and study by candlelight. He is grateful for the study lamp that he has received. His feelings were echoed by Kumar Naik, Pramila Kumari, Venkatesh S., and other students in the area.
S. Ashok and K. Naganna, both of whom are drivers and residents of the Ambedkar huts, aid that while their pleas for power connections have been ignored by the authorities, solar lighting will bring them relief. They are thankful to Surender Pal Singh, chairman of Premier Solar Systems, for bringing light to the lives of hundreds of poor families.
