Solar SIT at odds with Kerala government
Thiruvananthapuram: The state government seems to be under pressure by the resentment of a significant section in the police force over the move to take actions and initiate a probe against members of the special investigation team in the so-called solar scam.
While DGP A. Hemachandran who headed the team wrote a letter to the government justifying the acts of the SIT, the other members of the SIT were also planning to express their displeasure with the government formally.
There were also reports that the Justice Sivarajan commission report did not specifically recommend any investigation and action against them, but only cited flaws.
The advocate general and director general of prosecution only suggested departmental actions. But the government went one step ahead by shifting the officials at once and even announcing a probe against the SIT, sources say. Justice Sivarajan preferred to be tight-lipped.
"I will not be making any clarifications at this point of time," he said. In the letter sent to the government, Mr Hemachandran understood to have given clarifications on flaws cited by the commission, especially about the reasons for not probing political connections claimed by the accused in the scam.
Mr Hemachandran had also called on chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan last week and conveyed that the commission was in a confrontation with the government on various occasions.
Based on the judicial commission recommendations, the government had transferred DGP (crime) Mr Hemachandran as KSRTC chairman and managing director.
Other members of the SIT SPs V. Ajith, Reji Jacob and K. S. Sudarsanan, DySP Jaison K. Abraham, circle inspector B. Roy and sub-inspector Biju John also got transferred.
