GHMC to distribute 10,000 saplings to IT firms to check pollution

Diwali is a time when air quality is affected, so we are taking a step towards a greener, cleaner Diwali., SSandeep Makhala.

Hyderabad: In order to counter the pollution caused by the bursting of crackers, the Telangana IT Association and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation plan to distribute over 10,000 saplings to major IT companies in the city this Diwali.

The TS IT Association has also launched “selfie with sapling” competition to encourage people to plant, maintain and nurture the saplings in their offices.

Sandeep Makhala, the global president of the TS IT Association, says, “All IT companies are giving back to the city as part of their corporate social responsibility. Diwali is a time when air quality is affected, so we are taking a step towards a greener, cleaner Diwali.”

The Association has distributed saplings of a variety of species including Nerium, Jacobina, Rose, Jasmine and Tecoma to over 300 IT companies in the city.
