Hyderabad: A rally for redesigning of nalas in Uppal Assembly constituency was held on Tuesday. Uppal BJP legislator N.V.S.S. Prabhakar who led the rally said, “The catchment area and storage of the Kapra lake, Uppal Peddacheruvu and Nallacheruvu has halved. The 3.63-km nala from Peddacheruvu to Nallacheruvu was 30 feet wide as per records. The Kapra-Nagaram nala was 5.338 km long and 40 feet wide according to the data with the revenue and irrigation departments. The ground situation is different, he said.
He said the GHMC and the then panchayat had given permission for constructions and the present government had allowed regularisation of some parts under GO MS 58. “Now the GHMC wants the nala width to be enhanced to 100 feet,” he said. Mr Prabhakar demanded that the government redesign the nalas for 30 feet width by strengthening, dredging and removing weeds.
