Trouble brews in CPM at Payyoli
Kochi: Former CPM councillor and Edappally local committee secretary M.P. Mahesh Kumar has raised serious allegations against party district secretary C.N. Mohanan and state committee member C.M. Dinesh Mani.
“The party leadership is silencing through threats those who raise their voice against corruption. A caucus is controlling the party in the district and the CPM has deteriorated into a Commission Corporate Criminal Party,” he alleged at a press meeting at Ernakulam Press Club on Tuesday.
“The party finds no qualms in protecting the rapist leaders and those who act as quotation goondas. Even if complaints are submitted against them, the party leadership will take retaliatory action against the complainant,” he said.
There were malpractices in tendering the works in connection with conducting FIFA – Under 17 World Cup when Mohanan was the GCDA chairman, he alleged. The tender for installing fire fighting system at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium was given to a company violating the norms, he said.
“I have been working for the party for the last 36 years and the party did injustice to me. I have exposed attempts of an area committee member to steal flood relief materials, which is the major reason for the party’s enmity,” he added.
The former councillor said that he would join the Congress. He also claimed that over 100 party workers had quit the CPM to join the Congress.
