Hyderabad: Aishwarya wins Tenzing award

Hyderabad: A Navy officer from Hyderabad, Lieutenant Commander Aishwarya Boddapati, has been awarded the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award by the ministry of youth affairs and sports.

In a letter dated September 17, the Director of the ministry of youth affairs and sports, Mr Thanglemlian informed the officer regarding the award. "I am glad to inform that the ministry has selected you for the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award 2017," read the letter. The award presentation ceremony will be held at Rashtrapati Bhawan on September 25.

Recently, Lt Commander Aishwarya Boddapati, was awarded the 'Nao Sena Medal', a gallantry award for courage and devotion to duty in the Naval force.

Officer Aishwarya is one of the six-member all-women crew made the nation proud by sailing in the Indian Naval Shipping Vessel (INSV) Tarini.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, Caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao congratulated Ms Aishwarya for winning the prestigious award.

In a statement, KCR said that it was an honour for the state and wished Aishwarya the best.
