Centre to focus on illegal immigrants in Karnataka too, says Rajnath Singh

After a Southern Zonal Council meeting here, he said every country has a right to know how many natives and foreigners are live in their country.

Bengaluru: Union Home Minister Mr Rajnath Singh on Tuesday hinted that the Centre will initiate action against illegal immigrants in Karnataka too. After a Southern Zonal Council meeting here, he said every country has a right to know how many natives and foreigners are live in their country.

The census of foreign nationals in Assam has been completed and soon, the government will look into illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Karnataka too.
On IT raids on Minister D.K. Shivakumar, he said autonomous bodies like the I-T Department and ED will decide who should be arrested and / or interrogated. “These organisations are not misused, the opposition is making baseless allegations,” he said.

The Council meeting reviewed recommendations made previously about security of fishermen, introduction of peninsular tourism trains, uniform allocation of funds in proportion to population of SC/STs and optimum harnessing of renewable energy. The council took up the fight between AP and Tamil Nadu fishermen over fishing rights at Pulicat Lake. Of 27 issues discussed, 22 were solved, he said.
