Production at 3 VTPS units halted due to non-availability of coal

Vijayawada: Power production in three units of Dr Narla Tatarao Thermal Power Station (VTPS) has come to a halt due to non-availability of coal.
According to official sources, only 600 MW of electricity is being produced, while the requirement is of 1,760 MW. They also mentioned that other units’ situation was critical due to non-availability of coal.
According to official sources, it requires 35,000 metric tonnes of coal in VTPS of Ibrahimpatnam of Krishna district to run all the 7 units per day, but the current storage of coal has fallen to zero.
