Thiruvananthapuram: Tainted cop gets crucial post
Thiruvananthapuram: Raising many eyebrows, a police officer who was barred by the intelligence wing from posting in key wings has been posted in the intelligence wing itself.
Sub-Inspector Georgekutty has been appointed at the State Police Monitoring Room (SPMR) attached to the Special Branch though the home department had sent a letter to the state police chief last year not to post him in any key posts. This was due to the adverse remarks against him in an inquiry report submitted by the then ADGP (Intelligence). Even disciplinary action was recommended against Georgekutty, who was then serving in the Rapid Response and Rescue Force at Pandikkad in Malappuram.
Overlooking this, Georgekutty has been posted in the SPMR at the police headquarters allegedly owing to political influence. He took charge on Saturday.
While ADGP (Intelligence) R. Sreelekha preferred to be tight-lipped on the matter, state police chief Loknath Behera said that he was not aware of this case. He added that the SPMR need not be considered as a key wing.
