Students join hands to clean Visakhapatnam beaches

As many as 5,000 volunteers comprising students, employees and the public participated in the camp.

Visakhapatnam: Thanks to the coastal cleanup drive taken up by citizen and various organisations, the city beaches, which were strewn by leftover of puja items and other waste during the recent idol immersions, were spotless once more on Sunday.

After the cleanup drive by Eastern Naval Command, Ken Foundation Society, organised another similar drive in partnership with “Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation”

As many as 5,000 volunteers comprising students, employees and the public participated in the camp. The event was flagged of by the M. Hari Narayanan.
The drive covered Gokul Park to Tenneti Park Beach of the city.

“To tackle with the vast amount of pollution due to harmful wastes washing ashore, it will still take many concentrated efforts as more debris will be washed ashore in the coming days. Social responsibility is in the need of hour, our action is decisive in changing the future to design the world we live in and it’s our responsibility to keep the beach and the shore clean,” said Ken Foundation founder P. Santosh.

A large number of students from various institutions like Gayatri Vidya Parishad (Group), Raghu, Lendi, Andhra University MCA Chartered Accountant Firm,” Sea Cadet Corps and many others joined hands for the noble cause.
