RK Puram, Sainikpuri: Stalled on the flyover
Hyderabad: The RK Puram flyover, the only connect between Secunderabad and Sainkpuri, is ridden with potholes. Despite patchwork before the nimajjanam, the road continues to be terrible. The gravel laid to fill the potholes was not levelled. After the first bout of rain, the gaping holes opened up.
The middle of the bridge is scattered with potholes from the Army School side. During the recent rains, motorists were stuck on the bridge for one-and-a-half hours and police had to divert traffic.
Others complained of being stuck on the bridge for more than 45 minutes.
Dr Padmaja K., a vet, said, “The traffic is bad from 9 in the morning. Vehicles are on the bridge for more than 20 minutes every day because of the terrible state of the road. The repairs before nimajjanam were merely an eyewash. The stones are scattered all over the bridge, making life terrible for two wheelers.”
Roads in Sainikpuri, Defence Colony, Kapra Lake and Dammiguda have huge potholes. The Fifth Avenue near Ding Dong supermarket does not have a road at all.
Ms N. Billimoria, a senior citizen, “This section of the road has never been repaired. The GHMC only fills these potholes with rubble and levels them. But the situation comes back to square one whenever it rains.”
The situation is the same 250 metres ahead in Nirmalnagar and at DLR Enclave near Kapra lake.
