Make Hubballi-Dharwad Drug Free, Says Karnataka Home Minister

Hubballi: Setting a goal of making Hubballi-Dharwad drug-free within the next six months, Home Minister G Parameshwara announced that commendable efforts by the police officers and staff in curbing drugs will be acknowledged with rewards.

He was speaking while chairing the review meeting at Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner's office today.

The Minister asserted his commitment to making the twin cities drug-free zones and underscored the importance of preventing drug-related issues from permeating school and college campuses.

He called the officials for vigilant monitoring of educational institutions.

"There is a need for robust efforts to curb anti-social activities and maintain law and order. There should be awareness about traffic rules and social media among students in schools and colleges, ensuring they understand both their implications and the potential hazards the social media pose," he added.

He declared to conduct a review after three months and warned that if the crime rate does not witness a decline, officials would be held accountable and appropriate action would be taken.

Addressing reporters after the meeting, the Home Minister emphasized the role of the police department in instilling confidence in the public by effectively addressing citizens' concerns.

He lauded the reduction in burning issues and crime rates in the twin cities and urged authorities to prevent the city from becoming a hub for drug-related activities.
