What’s that big bang near KRS? Mysuru scion seeks information

Yaduveer said the Dasara festival will be held as per rituals being followed since the last four centuries.

Bengaluru: Scion of the Mysuru royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has sought information from the authorities concerned over the mysterious sounds which were heard in and around Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) dam two days ago.

Talking to reporters in Maddur on Sunday, he said the KRS dam situated in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district, is the lifeline of Mysuru-Mandya farmers and so it was a matter of concern that a big sound was heard near the dam two days ago. The dam authorities owe an explanation in this regard. Local residents say the sound may be due to mining which is going on unabated near the dam, or some other reason. Everything will become clear if the officials concerned come out with a statement, he added.

Mr Yaduveer also said Baby Betta and adjoining areas belonged to the Mysuru royal family but the deputy commissioner has failed to furnish documents in this regard. The property right is still vested in his mother and Rajmata, Ms Pramodadevi Wadiyar, he said.

Replying to a question, he said the Dasara festival will be held as per rituals being followed since the last four centuries. While the royal family has its own set of rituals, the state government will hold programmes in its own way. It is left to the state govenment to celebrate this year's Dasara in a simple or grand manner, he added.
