WAYANAD: Rescue workers retrieved one more body on Sunday, taking the total casualties in the Puthumala landslide to 11. Six more are still missing, according to the district administration.
The body of Annayan, 54, husband of Yashodha, was found near Soochipara falls at a depth of 1000 feet below Puthumala.
Sub-collector N.S.K. Umesh said the body was lying around 6 km away from the original landslide site. His son, son-in-law, brother and close friends including the ward member, identified the body, he said.
Mr Umesh said the ground-penetrating rad-ar (GPR) system would reach here on Monday from Malappuram with six officials. The search will continue with a highly specialised 12-member team from National Disaster Response Force, supported by fire and rescue and forest department personnel combing the Soochipara area....
