Tamil songs irk Kannada activists

Bengaluru: J.J. Nagar police had tough time on Saturday night when two groups clashed over plying of Tamil songs during a religious function in Markandeshwara Nagar.
According to police, the locals had organised orchestra programme in the backdrop of Gangamma Devi Utsav for entertainment. It is said that the orchestra singers sang only Tamil songs.
Taking strong objection, a group of people attached to a pro-Kannada organisation halted the programme and demanded that Kannada songs be played.
The police reached the spot and successfully prevented the situation from getting out of hand. A case has been registered in this regard and investigation is on.
