Pigs maul woman in Nellore
Nellore: An aged woman, working as housemaid, was injured grievously in an attack by pigs while she was returning home from work at Kalugolammapeta in Kavali on Friday.
The woman, identified as Bibi Jan, was on her way to Vaikuntapuram from Manasa Centre when the incident happened. Locals had a tough time in driving away the pigs that had started biting her.
At least two hefty pigs surrounded Bibi Jan after she lost balance and fell on the ground in the attack.
Two motorcycle riders, passing through the road, stopped their bike and drove away the pigs with the help of a stick provided by locals.
The woman, with injuries on the face and other parts of the body, was admitted to the area hospital for treatment and her condition is stated to be stable.
It may be recalled that incidentally, the same pigs had attacked a teacher working in Venkatachalam mandal on Thursday night and he was treated as outpatient in the area hospital, locals said.
Meanwhile, Kavali municipality came under fire for their negligence in dealing with the pig menace in the town, as residents demanded the civic body to launch a drive immediately.
