Don't Act like Agents of BRS, BJP tells Cops

Hyderabad: The BJP urged the police not to act like “agents of BRS leaders” in the state and perform their duties without “instructed prejudice” against BJP leaders and workers, on Wednesday. The BJP also urged the police to immediately stop acting in a high-handed manner against the party and file baseless cases.

BJP’s state election committee chairman and Huzurabad MLA Etala Rajendar told reporters that attacks on BJP workers as well as false cases filed by the police were rising in Telangana state.

“The latest is the case of Mangalhat BJP corporator M. Shashikala, who was charged with attempted murder. She, along with 10 others, have been booked under various charges, including attempted murder. All she was doing was trying to defuse a brawl over the installation of a party banner a few days ago. If a re-investigation is not done in this manner, the BJP will launch an agitation,” Rajendar said.

“Similar intimidation tactics were employed by the police in Gajwel, the constituency of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, at the behest of BRS leaders. BJP workers, who caught miscreants for desecrating a statue of Shivaji, were arrested and cases were booked against them. Such targeting of BJP workers is happening across the state,” he stated.

Rajendar said he met with Goshamahal MLA D. Raja Singh, whose constituency Mangalhat division is a part of. “The BJP will take up the issue of Raja Singh’s suspension with the national leadership,” he added.

Speaking after meeting with Rajendar, Raja Singh said cases were being filed against BJP workers to intimidate the party and its cadres. “I messaged state BJP chief G. Kishan Reddy and Rajendar about the arrest. Today, Rajendar visited my house to discuss the issue and lend support to BJP workers.”
