Kurnool: With Krishna River carrying heavy inflows, officials opened 16 gates of the Priyadarshini Jurala project on Sunday to discharge 16,830 cusecs of the total 79,458 cusecs that it received, according to Central Water Commission authorities.
The level of water at downstream Srisailam, the next major reservoir on Krishna, is also rising. It stood at 248.84 metres against the total height of 269.75 metres. The current water storage in Srisailam reservoir is 34.82 thousand million cubic feet (tmc ft).
The upstream Almatti dam in north Karnataka is receiving an inflow of 49,970 cusecs, which is being discharged in entirety to downstream Narayanapur Reservoir. Naryanapur is receiving water at the rate of 61,801 cusecs of water and has discharged 58,324 cusecs through its spillway towards Priyadarshini Jurala project.
