Y S Rajasekhar Reddy was my best friend: Chandrababu Naidu

Naidu said that though they were political rivals as they represent different parties, they used to share a mutual affection.

Vijayawada: During a heated debate in the Assembly on the removal of statues of especially the late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy during the previous TD regime, TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu turned emotional and said that YSR was his best friend.

Mr Naidu said that many legislators were unaware of the fact that YSR was his best friend and they started their political career together in 1975 and continued their journey until 1983 when he switched to Telugu Desam founded by late N.T. Rama Rao, his father-in-law. He said that they shared a room together for some time.

Mr Naidu said that though they were political rivals as they represent different parties, they used to share a mutual affection. He said that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy might not be aware of his relationship with YSR except for the way they used to corner each other during Assembly sessions when either the TD or the Congress were in the undivided AP.

The debate was triggered by YSRC MLA Ambati Rambabu’s allegation that Mr Naidu was unable to tolerate YSR statues and felt jealous while driving past them.
