Sambalpur: Body exhumed 3 months after death
SAMBALPUR: The body of a man of Amamunda village under Melchhamunda police limits in Bargarh district was on Thursday exhumed from village crematorium by a team of police and forensic experts.
The police recovered the body after family members of the youth levelled allegations of planned murder as reason behind his death.
According to sources, on April 18, the man identified as Udaya Tandi had died while undergoing treatment for blood poisoning after drinking spurious liquor. His family members had later buried his body in the village crematorium.
However, after coming to know that Tandi’s death was a planned murder by some people of their village who allegedly forced him to drink spurious liquor, his wife and son lodged a complaint at Padampur Police Station.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, the police accompanied by a team of forensic experts unearthed Tandi’s body from the grave and sent to Padampur Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem.
“Someone had poisoned my father’s liquor which led to his death. He was having some issues with some people of the village and they might have poisoned him,” alleged Tandi’s son.
Bargarh SDPO Pradip Sahu informed that police investigation into the incident was underway.
“The deceased’s wife is alleging that some people of their village had mixed poison with his alcoholic drink. We have initiated an investigation and very soon, the culprits will be put behind bars,” added the SDPO.
