Congress strategy is to force Centre to dismiss HDK govt

Siddara maiah raised a point of order on the matter related to issuing whip to his party MLAs who are in Mumbai.

Devoid of any issue to fight against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular and BJP in general, the Congress is itching for a fight against the Centre.

The Grand Old Party wants to force the Narendra Modi government to dismiss the Karnataka coalition government on one pretext or the other so that it can start a nation-wide campaign against the saffron party for “gross misuse of Article 356” - the charge the BJP always hurls against the Congress.

The delay tactics adopted by the Congress in the Assembly on Thursday during the trust vote is nothing but a well-crafted strategy to corner BJP and gain political brownie points, if the Centre dismisses the government for not adhering to the Governor's directive to complete the trust vote before 1.30 PM on Friday. If the Assembly does not adhere to the Governor's directive, Vajubhai Vala will report to the Centre about the Karnataka government's refusal to obey the Constitutional Head and may recommend the dismissal of the government.

If, in the event the Centre goes by the Governor's report and dismisses the Congress-JD(S) government, then the Congress and its junior partner the JDS will get a handle to beat the BJP. Five minutes after chief minister H.D. Kumara swamy commenced his speech on trust vote, former chief minister Siddara maiah raised a point of order on the matter related to issuing whip to his party MLAs who are in Mumbai.

This is a trap set by the Congress to corner BJP. Now the question is will Modi-Shah walk into the trap set by the Congress and bite the Congress bullet?
