Transport stir from 20 July, Friday
Bengaluru: The transport department has constituted a state level task force committee in the wake of transport operators planning to go on a nationwide strike from Friday, which could lead to shortage of essential commodities.
The committee will ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities. It will work in Bengaluru and other district centres along with control rooms.
"This strike has called by a section of transport operators, headed by Shanmugappa association, and other groups have not offered support. So our task force will work round the clock to ensure movement of essential commodities,” a RTO official told Deccan Chronicle.
The strike call was given by the All India Confederation of Goods Vehicle Owners Association and supported by the South Zone Motor Transporters Welfare Association.
