Centre okays University in Anantapur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier cleared the path for approving the measure a few weeks ago and a notification was released for admissions.

Anantapur: Just a few hours ahead over the discussion on the no-confidence motion moved by the Telugu Desam against the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, the Union Cabinet approved setting up the AP Central University in Anantapur.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier cleared the path for approving the measure a few weeks ago and a notification was released for admissions. The academic year will begin from August 5, the incubation centre building of the JNTUA has allotted as the temporary venue for the Central University till it gets a permanent campus near Jantjalur in BK Samudram mandal, about 15 km from here.

The Cabinet approved the Bill which is expected to be introduced in the ongoing academic year so as not to waste an academic year.

The Cabinet decision ahead of the no-trust vote drew the attention of the people as the issue was pending for four years.
