Tamil Nadu moves bill for tender transparency
Another bill to increase the quota for differently-abled from three to four per cent was also introduced.
Chennai: The state government introduced a bill for transparency in government tenders for procurement of commodities to improve efficiency in the process and reduce the cost. Finance minister D. Jayakumar, who introduced the bill in the Assembly, said it would help to efficiently carry out the Tamil Nadu Transparency in Tenders Act, 1998.
Law minister C.V. Shanmugam introduced another bill to remove useless and old acts in the law book. A committee formed by the Prime Minister Office had recommended that 1741 acts should be removed and the process should be carried out by Assemblies, he said. Another bill to increase the quota for differently-abled from three to four per cent was also introduced.
