Keep tab on parcels of drugs, Indian post told
Hyderabad: The Enforcement wing of Prohibition and Excise department has a guideline for India Post and Courier services keep an eye on parcels from a few countries like Netherlands, Nigeria and Germany to help the department prevent drug trafficking and abuse.
Director of Enforcement Dr. Akun Sabharwal on Tuesday visited the Post Master General and discussed the issue. He briefed the PMG on how Calvin, the prime accused in the drugs case, used to get drugs through India Post from Netherlands and other countries.
A source from the Special Task Force said that the department would issue notices to a few private courier operators for their negligence in passing on drug parcels.
“We are also seeking CCTV footage with the courier services at the particular time when the parcels consisting of drugs reached the city and went out for delivery,” the source said.
