Hyderabad: Rain inundates Bandari Layout, 2016 repeat feared

The situation in road numbers 7, 8 and 9 are better than last year except road number 10.

Hyderabad: Bandari Layout, which experienced the worst last year with inundation of three streets, is facing similar problems due to the moderate to heavy rains continuing for the last two days.

Although the GHMC and other departments took the initiative in developing nalas and drain water system in Kukatpally Assembly segment and at Balanagar nala, still there is no development in Bandari Layout. However, the situation in road numbers 7, 8 and 9 are better than last year except road number 10. But, locals are expressing their concern over the situation if the rains continue for two or three more days and the levelof water in nearby lakes.

P. Ravindra, a local from Bandari Layout, said that the worst situation at Road Number 10 was on since Monday. “Water began collecting on roads and if it continues, the rain water inundates the cellars of apartments. Besides the rain water, the overflow of drainage pipelines is creating problems. At present a few houses at Road Number 10 are under water,” he said.

Following the series of complaints, Medchal District Collector M.V. Reddy directed panchayat raj officials for immediate relief action at Bandari Layout. As per the instructions of the collector, District Panchayat Raj Officer Mr. Suresh Mohan visited the colony and promised locals that the department would take measures to clear the water.
