Vijayawada: Swiss Challenge brings about Opposition unity
Vijayawada: Accusing the state government of unilaterally deciding to accept the Swiss Challenge proposal submitted by the Singapore consortium of companies for development of 6.84 sq km in CRDA limits, the Congress, Left and YSR Congress parties will join hands to oppose the decision.
The Left parties have already started working on action plan on the issue and are likely to have a dialogue with the Congress and YSRC on how to proceed further.
CPM state secretary P. Madhu on Monday said that they would come out with an appropriate action plan and are considering meeting other parties over the issue.
Mr Madhu said that that they plan to reach out to all Opposition leaders and bring them on a common platform to fight against the government’s decision.
Meanwhile, YSRC leader and former minister K. Pardhasarathi said that they would oppose the state government’s decision and are ready to fight against it.
PCC chief N. Raghuveera Reddy said that there is a “war-like” situation in the capital area and the Congress will exercise all options to protect the interests of the farmers and the people. He too was open to the idea of a common platform to fight against the Swiss Challenge decision.
Former minister Devineni Rajasekhar said that the Congress opposes the Swiss Challenge decision and will fight to protect the public from multinational companies.
On Sunday, the much awaited e-procurement tender notice was placed online, four hours behind schedule. The notification has mentioned about the development of 6.84 sq km start up area of Amaravati Capital City in PPP mode through Swiss Challenge approach under APIDE Act, 2001, on which the all-party meeting –cum roundtable conference held on Sunday had demanded the government not to allow the multinational companies.
The “Rajadhani Abhivriddhi Vedika”, which convened the roundtable meeting, had demanded Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to call an all-party meeting immediately.
The capital should be constructed with Central funds, Rajadhani Abhivriddhi Vedika chairman Professor Lakshamana Rao had demanded.
