Stick to July 31 as deadline for Pushkaralu works: CM Chandrababu Naidu
Anantapur: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has issued a strong warning to contractors against any delay in completion of works for the Krishna Pushkaralu at Srisailam and other parts of Kurnool district. He also took a serious note of the absence of the fire department DG and some other officials at the meet.
The CM reviewed the progress of works with district officials at Kurnool and inspected the ongoing works at Srisailam on Monday. Speaking at the review meeting, the chief minister put a deadline as July 31 for completion of works. This was the seventh review meeting on Krishna Pushkaralu.
“A final review would be done on August 1 and nobody would be spared including officials and contractors if the works are delayed and if any work is of poor quality,” Mr Naidu said and added that 1,610 works were taken up as part of the pr-eparatory arrangements for Krishna Pushkaralu in various parts of the state. He said Rs 1,247 crore has been allotted for the works.
Of the 1,563 works, 1,523 works were begun after completing the tender formalities. As many as 581 works were already completed and the remaining works should be completed by July-end. In the wake of the stampede during last year's Godavari Push-karalu, the CM directed the police and other departments to take all necessary arrangements at the pushkar ghats to avoid any stampede.
“Sufficient staff should be deputed at all ghats and also mobile medical teams along with ambulances should kept ready closer to the ghats,” Mr Naidu asked the health department.
He also directed the administration to create a website inviting volunteers to do service during the Pushkaralu, similar to that of TTD.
The Chief Minister suggested the civil supplies department to provide free meals to the devotees who arrive for the holy dip during the Pushkaralu. Harathi would be offered similar to the one at Godavari river in Srisailam.
Kurnool collector Ch. Vijayamohan said six pushkar ghats will be set up two at Sangamesw-aram, Lingalagattu and Patalaganga, monitored round the clock by special teams during Pushkaralu at Srisailam.
Mr Naidu also released a brochure on Swachh Srisailam at the proposed outer ring road area. Srisailam temple authorities offered a traditional welcome to the chief minister during his visit.
