Karnataka: Aid pours in for DySP Handibag's family

The three MLAs handed over a cheque for Rs 3 lakh to Handibag's parents and later met his wife and gave her a Rs 2-lakh cheque.

Belagavi: While the government is yet to come to the rescue of the family of DySP Kallappa Handibag who committed suicide recently, several political leaders in the state have extended financial assistance to the parents and wife of the dead police officer.

A few days after former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy and BJP leaders visited the family of Handibag at Murgod and Handigund, suspended JD(S) legislators, Cheluvarayaswamy, Zameer Ahmed and H.C. Balakrishna visited his parents at Handigund and wife at Murgod to extend moral and financial support. The three assured the parents and wife of Handibag that they would arrange a meeting with the CM in Bengaluru shortly and asked them to come to Bengaluru.Mr Cheluvara yaswamy said Kallappa was an honest officer who ended his life due to higher officer's harassment.
