Rahul Gandhi's 53rd birthday today, wishes pour in for Congress leader

Hyderabad: The Congress party is celebrating the 53rd birthday of its senior leader and former president Rahul Gandhi on Monday. The party leaders extended birthday greeting to the leader through their social media handles.

TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy took to twitter and wished him for being a rightful successor to a family which has sacrificed itself for the country. Congress greeted the leader in a tweet, “a fearless leader and to his unwavering commitment to keeping India united. To his unflinching faith in love, a love which is willing to forgive, to trust, to hope and to embrace differences. To our own ‘mohabbat ki dukaan’.

A blood donation camp is being held in Indira Bhavan under the aegis of NSUI (National Students Union of India) by former PCC president V. Hanumantha Rao and TPCC fishermen Congress chairman Mettu Sai Kumar.

Speaking on the occasion Hanumantha Rao said, “Rahul has promised to hold caste-based census if the party comes to power. Census will be useful to increase reservations as BCs form nearly 54 percent of the population. He has promised jitna hissedari utna bhagidari.”

Labelled a reluctant politician by the opposition parties, Rahul Gandhi has come out of the shadows of his mother former Congress president Sonia Gandhi after his Bharat Jodo Yatra. His birthday, the first after the party's victory in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka is celebrated with much fanfare.

Posters, extending birthday greetings to Rahul Gandhi were put up outside AICC Headquarters in Delhi.

Several political leaders greeted Rahul on his birthday.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Monday greeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on his birthday.

"Birthday greetings to dear brother Thiru @RahulGandhi. We have a long journey ahead of us to save the democratic ethos of India. Let us march together," he said in a tweet.
