Pravasi Mitra Labour Union to move court against wage-theft' by Gulf employers

PMLU is fighting for the legal rights of migrant Gulf workers of Telangana with their Justice for Wage Theft' campaign

ADILABAD: Many Gulf-based companies are not paying salaries to their workers under the pretext of Covid-19 compulsions.

Several workers from Telangana employed in the Middle East had returned to their native villages because of coronavirus and absence of livelihood.

Leaders from Pravasi Mitra Labour Union (PMLU) condemned the non-payment of salaries to the migrant workers and termed it as ‘wage-theft’.

PMLU is fighting for the legal rights of migrant Gulf workers of Telangana with their ‘Justice for Wage Theft’ campaign. It is creating awareness among Gulf returnees about their legal rights and are preparing for a legal battle to get them their salaries.

Union leader Swadesh Parikipandla alleged that many Gulf companies were indulging in such a sordid evasion and had not paid workers their salary dues and other service benefits like gratuity.

He said they have conducted an awareness programme for repatriated migrant workers at Utnoor in Adilabad, Buggaram in Jagtial and Mothe in Nizamabad and Gudem village in Sircilla districts on Friday.

“We are preparing for a legal battle in foreign labour courts in collaboration with the Indian Embassies abroad and international organisations,'’ said Shashimala Kommu.
